Cork Properties
Cork has so many wonderful properties, making it a great alternative to leather. It is also better for the planet and the animals!
No need to panic; your cork fabric won't crack or crumble. In fact, due to the natural processing of cork fabric, it retains such great qualities;
Extremely Light
Cork is Extremely light; 50% of the volume is air! You'll forget you've even got those shoes on!
Water Resistance
Thanks to corks' natural suberin lining (a waterproof waxy substance) found in the cell walls, natural cork is virtually impermeable to liquids and gases. Whatever the weather, your products will be up to the challenge.
Wear and Tear Resistance
Corks' honeycomb structure allows it to be highly abrasion resistant, which makes it such a great riding boot, amongst other things, and it has a high friction coefficient. Even NASA uses it!
Slow Burning
We hope this is never required but. The slow combustion of cork makes it a natural fire retardant, a great characteristic in the cork tree forests of Portugal.
Softness and Uniqueness
The softness of cork fabric is one of the characteristics our customers love the most. Even with daily wear, it ages brilliantly and becomes super soft. Each product is unique as a fingerprint. There are no two identical pieces of cork.
